Frequently Asked Questions
Is the mine open on weekends and Holidays?
Amethyst Mine Panorama is open 7 days a week, weekends and holidays included, from May 15th until October 15th.
How do I dig?
Amethyst Mine Panorama features a 5-acre field of amethyst bearing material. A good way to search for amethyst is to walk around looking for amethyst lying on top of the ground or on tables around the site. However, most visitors like to dig in the ground. We provide a steel rod to be used as a digging tool and running water. Plastic pails are provided to help carry your discoveries. Clean and sort your findings at the wash table and then weigh your amethyst in the store.
What should I wear?
No special clothing is required, but closed-toe shoes or runners are recommended. Digging for amethyst is an outdoor activity, thus it is important to dress for the weather.
Are dogs allowed?
Pets are allowed as long as they remain on a leash and under the owner’s control at all times.
What will I find?
